About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join a busy acute inpatient service within a well-regarded NHS hospital in South West London. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled clinician who is confident working with adult acute patients, supporting safe and timely discharge planning within a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist OT assessment and intervention for adults with acute and complex physical health needs.
  • Manage a varied caseload across medical, surgical, and orthopaedic wards (depending on service need).
  • Lead on complex discharge planning, working closely with MDT members, social services, and community teams.
  • Carry out manual handling assessments and ensure safe practice across the team.
  • Support service flow by contributing to early discharge initiatives and hospital targets.
  • Provide supervision and clinical guidance to junior staff and students.

Essential Requirements

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant post-graduate experience within acute physical health settings.
  • Strong skills in manual handling, functional assessments, and discharge planning.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a busy clinical environment.
  • Excellent MDT communication and documentation skills.

Desirable

  • Previous Band 7 acute NHS experience.
  • Experience with rapid response, frailty, or admission avoidance pathways.
