Salary: £27 - £37 per hour (Band 7/8a)
Start Date: ASAP (November/December start)
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Pharmacist to join our clients Rheumatology Team at an NHS hospital in London. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to work in a dynamic and patient-focused environment. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high-quality care to patients with rheumatological conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert pharmacological support and advice to the Rheumatology department, including prescribing, reviewing, and monitoring drug therapy.
- Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medications in rheumatology patients, particularly those receiving immunosuppressive therapies.
- Work closely with rheumatology consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care.
- Review and monitor patients' medication regimens, including biologics, DMARDs, and corticosteroids.
- Assist in the development of guidelines and policies related to rheumatology drug therapy.
- Deliver patient education on the safe use of medications and potential side effects.
- Provide training and support to junior pharmacy staff and contribute to departmental education initiatives.
- Actively participate in clinical audits, research, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Pharmacy Degree (MPharm) and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Significant experience working as a pharmacist in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Experience or strong interest in Rheumatology or related specialties.
- Advanced clinical knowledge of immunosuppressants, DMARDs, and other rheumatological therapies.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to provide expert advice and support to medical staff, patients, and carers.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience at Band 7 or Band 8a level in an NHS or similar setting is highly desirable.
Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate: £27 - £37 per hour (Band 7/8a).
