Job description

A fantastic opportunity is available for a skilled and compassionate General Acute Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic healthcare team in Newcastle, working across the Medical and Frailty departments. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £24-26, with both full-time and part-time hours considered, and an immediate start is on offer.

Occupational Therapists in acute settings assess patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs to identify barriers to daily living and support them through therapeutic interventions. These professionals work closely with medical teams to ensure that care plans are holistic and responsive to patients’ needs. By implementing rehabilitation strategies, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques, they help patients regain independence and improve their overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat patients in acute medical and frailty settings.
  • Provide expert advice and support to patients to aid recovery and enhance independence.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide support and education to patients, families, and staff.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Previous experience in an acute medical or frailty setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
