Job Title: Biomedical Scientist (Haematology/Transfusion) – Band 6
Location: Somerset
Duration: ASAP – Ongoing (subject to extension)
Schedule: Monday – Sunday, 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Rate of Pay: £24 – 26 per hour DOE (umbrella equivalent)

What You’ll Be Doing
Join our team as a Biomedical Scientist in Haematology/Transfusion and contribute to high-quality diagnostic services. Your responsibilities will include:
Performing a range of haematology and transfusion science tests using automated and manual techniques
Operating and maintaining haematology analysers and blood transfusion equipment
Ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and quality control measures
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care
Maintaining high standards in all laboratory procedures
Assisting with the interpretation and validation of test results
Requirements & Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
NHS experience in Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion
Experience with Werfen Neo
Strong knowledge of quality control and laboratory standards
Full-time availability (we are unable to provide sponsorship)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient laboratory services
Working Hours & Contract Duration
This role requires availability from Monday to Sunday, 37.5 hours per week. The contract is ongoing, with the potential for renewal based on performance and service needs.
