Locum Oncology Pharmacist – NHS Hospital – Central London

 

Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Oncology Pharmacist to join a leading NHS hospital service in Central London. This is an ideal position for a pharmacist with specialist oncology knowledge looking to contribute to a high-performing cancer services team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the provision of clinical pharmacy services to oncology patients, including screening chemotherapy prescriptions, providing clinical input on inpatient oncology wards, and working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective treatment.

 

Job Details:

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Location: Central London

  • Contract Length: Ongoing

  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (30-minute unpaid break)

  • Band: 7 and 8a opportunities available, dependent on experience

  • Hourly Rate:

    • Band 7: £27 – £32 per hour

    • Band 8a: £33 – £37 per hour

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clinical screening and verification of SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) prescriptions

  • Providing expert pharmaceutical advice on oncology treatment plans

  • Supporting inpatient and day-case oncology wards with clinical pharmacy services

  • Participating in consultant-led ward rounds and MDT meetings

  • Liaising with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to ensure optimal patient care

  • Monitoring for drug interactions, adverse effects, and treatment efficacy

  • Supporting compliance with local and national cancer treatment guidelines

  • Contributing to audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives

 

Requirements:

  • GPhC-registered Pharmacist

  • Previous NHS hospital experience in oncology or cancer services

  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy regimens and protocols

  • Able to commit to a full-time, on-site working pattern
