Hunter AHP are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Assistant to work on a locum basis within a GP surgery in Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to join a welcoming and experienced clinical team in a well-established primary care setting.

We are looking for an individual with prior GP or Primary Care experience, and confidence using SystmOne clinical software. The role offers flexible cover options — from 2 to 5 days per week — making it ideal for both full-time locums and those seeking part-time roles.

 

Key Role Information:

  • Job Title: Locum GP Pharmacy Assistant

  • Location: GP Surgery, Yorkshire (specific site provided upon application)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Contract Type: Ongoing locum (long-term cover preferred)

  • Days/Hours: Flexible between 2–5 days per week (surgery open Mon–Fri)

  • Working Hours: Typically 9am–5pm (may vary slightly)

  • Rate: £15–£17 per hour (dependent on experience)

  • Payment Terms: Weekly, every Friday via Hunter AHP

  • Agency: Hunter AHP – Specialists in pharmacy staffing

 

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent

  • Previous experience in a GP surgery or Primary Care setting

  • Proficient in SystmOne clinical system

  • Valid NHS Smart Card

  • Excellent communication and organisation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

 

Typical Duties May Include:

  • Processing and managing repeat prescription requests

  • Supporting the clinical pharmacist or prescribing team

  • Handling medication queries from patients, staff, and pharmacies

  • Updating patient medication records on SystmOne

  • Managing medication stock and liaising with suppliers where needed

  • Ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in line with NHS protocols

  • General administrative duties to support the wider GP practice team
