Locum Clinical Pharmacist – NHS Hospital (Leicester)
Hunter AHP is actively seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Locum Clinical Pharmacist to join an established NHS hospital in the Leicester area. This role is ideal for pharmacists with strong clinical capability who are confident working across a variety of ward settings and contributing to high-quality patient care.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across acute and general medical wards. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, provide expert medicines optimisation, undertake medicines reconciliation, and support safe and effective prescribing practices. The hospital offers a welcoming and collaborative environment, with opportunities to expand your clinical skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical pharmacy input on inpatient wards
Carry out medicines reconciliation and discharge planning
Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives
Deliver medicines optimisation and patient counselling
Collaborate with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Ensure safe, evidence-based prescribing and adherence to NHS guidelines
Requirements:
Previous clinical pharmacy experience within a hospital setting
Confident working on clinical wards independently
Registration with the GPhC
Ability to start ASAP
Minimum commitment of 3 days per week, with 5 days preferred
Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
Assignment Details:
Location: NHS hospital, Leicester
Start date: ASAP
Hours: Part-time or full-time (minimum 3 days per week; ideally 5)
Duration: Ongoing contract
Hourly rate: £27–£31 per hour, depending on experience
Weekly payment every Friday
Full support from an experienced Hunter AHP consultant throughout your placement
