Locum Band 6 Acute Medical Occupational Therapist – Immediate Start

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Acute Medical Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic NHS hospital team on a locum basis.

Role Overview:
You will be working within a fast-paced acute medical setting, providing high-quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention to patients with a wide range of complex conditions. This includes functional assessments, discharge planning, equipment provision, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and treatment plans for acute medical patients
• Manage a varied caseload including elderly care and general medicine
• Complete functional assessments to support safe and timely discharges
• Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment and adaptations
• Work closely with MDT colleagues including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social services
• Supervise junior staff and students where appropriate

Essential Requirements:

• HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
• Minimum 12 months UK experience at Band 6 level (or strong Band 5 stepping up)
• Recent experience in acute medicine / inpatient setting
• Strong discharge planning and functional assessment skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

Contract Details:

• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Ongoing
• Hours: Full-time (part-time considered)
• Pay Rate: £25–£26 per hour (depending on experience)
• Location: Based across 1 of 3 hospitals in Leicestershire
