Hunter Gatherer AHP is looking for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a supportive therapy team in Newport.
This is a varied role combining inpatient occupational therapy with pre-elective surgery telephone assessments. The successful candidate will manage an inpatient caseload, completing functional and discharge assessments, while also carrying out telephone assessments for patients awaiting elective surgery to ensure they are appropriately prepared for admission and discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a varied inpatient caseload across adult wards.
Complete functional, cognitive, and activities of daily living (ADL) assessments.
Support rehabilitation and facilitate safe and timely discharge planning.
Conduct pre-elective surgery telephone assessments to identify patient needs prior to admission.
Provide equipment recommendations and liaise with community services where appropriate.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Requirements:
HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
Previous NHS inpatient experience at Band 6 level.
Experience with discharge planning and rehabilitation.
Excellent communication skills, including confidence conducting telephone assessments.
Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
Available to start ASAP.
