Locum Haematology/Transfusion Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) – South West England

Job Title: Haematology/Transfusion Biomedical Scientist Band 6
Location: South West England
Duration: 3-month rolling contract with review for extension
Schedule: Monday – Sunday, 37.5 hours p/w (24/7 rota)
Start Date: ASAP
Rate of Pay: £25 – £26 per hour DOE (umbrella equivalent)

What You’ll Be Doing:

Join our team as a Haematology/Transfusion Biomedical Scientist and contribute to providing excellent diagnostic services. In this role, you will:

• Conduct a variety of haematology and transfusion laboratory tests
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of blood samples for diagnostic purposes
• Perform blood group testing, crossmatch, and other transfusion-related tests
• Maintain high standards of laboratory procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulations
• Support the development and implementation of quality control measures
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best patient care

Requirements & Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
• IBMS Accredited Degree
• At least 1 – 2 years of experience in a Haematology laboratory, preferably with transfusion experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient laboratory services
• Full right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide sponsorship)

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

This role requires availability from Monday to Sunday, 37.5 hours per week, across a 24/7 rota. The contract is for 3 months with a rolling renewal, subject to performance and service needs.
