Locum Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist – NHS Hospital (Surrey) | Hunter AHP
Hunter AHP is currently recruiting for a Locum Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist to join a highly regarded NHS hospital in Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to take on a long-term, full-time contract with scope to transition into a permanent role.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be working across a range of wards, providing high-quality clinical pharmacy services, supporting safe and effective use of medicines, and ensuring optimal patient care. You will be collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and contributing to discharge planning, medicines reconciliation, and clinical screening.
Contract & Working Pattern:
Start date: ASAP (flexible for the right candidate)
Length: 6-month contract (with potential for extension or permanent post following review)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (1-hour lunch)
Full-time commitment – 5 days per week
Based on-site at a Surrey NHS Hospital
Clinical Duties:
Providing clinical pharmacy input across Care of the Elderly, General Medicine, and Surgical wards
Medicines reconciliation and clinical screening for inpatients and discharges
Advising medical and nursing staff on appropriate prescribing and medicines optimisation
Supporting safe and effective use of high-risk drugs and IV therapies
Reviewing antimicrobial prescribing in line with trust guidelines
Liaising with the wider MDT to ensure continuity of patient care
Candidate Requirements:
GPhC registration as a Pharmacist (essential)
Previous NHS hospital experience working at Band 7 (or strong Band 6 ready to step up)
Confidence working independently across general medical and surgical specialties
Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
Strong clinical knowledge and a proactive approach to patient care
