Locum Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist – NHS Hospital (Surrey) | Hunter AHP

 

Hunter AHP is currently recruiting for a Locum Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist to join a highly regarded NHS hospital in Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to take on a long-term, full-time contract with scope to transition into a permanent role.

 

Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be working across a range of wards, providing high-quality clinical pharmacy services, supporting safe and effective use of medicines, and ensuring optimal patient care. You will be collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and contributing to discharge planning, medicines reconciliation, and clinical screening.

 

Contract & Working Pattern:

  • Start date: ASAP (flexible for the right candidate)

  • Length: 6-month contract (with potential for extension or permanent post following review)

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (1-hour lunch)

  • Full-time commitment – 5 days per week

  • Based on-site at a Surrey NHS Hospital

 

Clinical Duties:

  • Providing clinical pharmacy input across Care of the Elderly, General Medicine, and Surgical wards

  • Medicines reconciliation and clinical screening for inpatients and discharges

  • Advising medical and nursing staff on appropriate prescribing and medicines optimisation

  • Supporting safe and effective use of high-risk drugs and IV therapies

  • Reviewing antimicrobial prescribing in line with trust guidelines

  • Liaising with the wider MDT to ensure continuity of patient care

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • GPhC registration as a Pharmacist (essential)

  • Previous NHS hospital experience working at Band 7 (or strong Band 6 ready to step up)

  • Confidence working independently across general medical and surgical specialties

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Strong clinical knowledge and a proactive approach to patient care
