The Community Neuro Physiotherapist provides specialist physiotherapy assessment and intervention for adults with a range of neurological conditions living in the community. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary neuro rehabilitation team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care aimed at optimising independence, function, and quality of life.
The post holder manages a diverse and complex caseload, providing clinical expertise across conditions such as stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and other acquired or progressive neurological disorders.
Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to identify physical, functional, and postural needs.
Plan, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment programmes to improve mobility, balance, strength, and functional independence.
Deliver rehabilitation in patients’ homes and community settings, adapting interventions to individual goals and environments.
Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, Nurses, and Rehab Assistants).
Participate in case discussions, discharge planning, and liaison with hospital and community services.
Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
Manage workload autonomously while ensuring effective prioritisation and time management.
HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist.
Significant post-graduate experience in neurology or neuro-rehabilitation.
Experience delivering physiotherapy interventions in community or domiciliary settings.
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Knowledge of FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation), splinting, or postural management.
Previous experience within a Community Neuro or Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team.
Experience providing supervision and supporting service development initiatives.
This is an ASAP start locum position, offering full-time hours (Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week).
The hourly rate is £31–£32, dependent on experience and skill level.
The role is community-based, requiring regular travel across the local area (mileage expenses reimbursed as per policy).
