Service: Neurology / Neuro-Rehabilitation

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Neuro Physiotherapist to join a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team in Central London. The successful candidate will work with patients presenting with complex neurological conditions, providing expert assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to optimise functional outcomes and quality of life.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced neuro-specialist physiotherapist to contribute to a well-established service, working with both inpatient and community caseloads, and to play a key role in service delivery and development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Specialist Clinical Practice

    • Assess and treat patients with complex neurological dysfunction using advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and a high level of specialist knowledge.

    • Implement, monitor, and evaluate individualised treatment plans, predicting outcomes such as length of stay, functional recovery, and discharge destination.

  2. Complex Case Management

    • Independently manage patients with challenging behaviour or cognitive difficulties in a variety of environments (e.g., home, public transport, leisure centres).

    • Apply problem-solving skills, empathy, and risk management strategies in unpredictable situations.

  3. Risk and Manual Handling

    • Conduct thorough risk assessments for safe moving and handling of complex, dependent patients, ensuring safety and progression in rehabilitation.

  4. Communication and Collaboration

    • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external agencies to ensure a coordinated, goal-directed approach to care and discharge planning.

    • Communicate effectively with patients and carers, including those with speech, language, or cognitive impairments and those requiring interpreters.

  5. Leadership and Supervision

    • Supervise, support, and appraise therapy staff and students, promoting high clinical standards and reflective practice.

    • Allocate and prioritise physiotherapy workloads appropriately across the team.

  6. Service Development and Education

    • Contribute to service planning, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.

    • Participate in and facilitate continuing professional development (CPD) and in-service training for therapy colleagues and wider multidisciplinary staff.

  7. Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.

    • Provide expert advice and detailed clinical reports to health, social care, and legal professionals as required.

  8. Specialist Procedures (as applicable)

    • Where trained and authorised, participate in the Adult Focal Spasticity Service by assessing, administering, and documenting toxin injections (within PGD and local protocols), in accordance with national and local clinical guidelines.

Essential Requirements

  • HCPC Registration (Physiotherapist)

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy

  • Significant post-graduate experience in neurological rehabilitation (minimum 3 years preferred)

  • Proven ability to manage complex neuro caseloads independently

  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills

  • Evidence of CPD relevant to neurology

Desirable

  • Experience in community neuro-rehabilitation and discharge planning

  • Prior experience in extended scope practice (e.g., injection therapy)

  • Knowledge of London healthcare systems and pathways

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate (£30–£31 per hour)

  • Flexible working arrangements

  • Opportunity to work in a renowned Central London neuro service

  • Supportive multidisciplinary team environment
