Hunter AHP are currently seeking an experienced Band 8a Cancer Services Pharmacist for a fantastic locum opportunity within an NHS hospital based in West London. This role is ideal for a pharmacist with strong oncology experience looking to take the next step in their locum career or seeking flexibility in a dynamic cancer services team.

 

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Band 8a Cancer Services Pharmacist to support the delivery of chemotherapy and systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT) across inpatient and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will work closely with oncology consultants, nurses, and the wider pharmacy team to ensure the safe and effective delivery of cancer therapies.

 

Key Details:

  • Start Date: Mid-July 2025

  • Location: NHS Trust, West London

  • Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour break)

  • Work Pattern: Flexible – choose from 3, 4, or 5 days per week

  • Contract Type: Locum – Ongoing contract with long-term potential

  • Hourly Rate: £33–£36 per hour (depending on experience)paid weekly

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and clinically screen chemotherapy prescriptions in line with BOPA standards

  • Provide specialist advice on systemic anti-cancer treatments to patients and healthcare professionals

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery of chemotherapy

  • Participate in audits, governance meetings, and cancer services improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with local and national guidelines related to cancer therapy

 

Requirements:

  • GPhC-registered Pharmacistessential

  • BOPA SACT Passportmandatory for this role

  • Minimum 12 months of oncology/SACT experience within an NHS hospital or similar setting

  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, e-prescribing systems, and cancer pathway

  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamworking skills
