Job Title: Biomedical Scientist – Biochemistry
Location: Milton Keynes
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (including 1 in 4 Saturdays on a rota basis)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist to join a high-performing Biochemistry Department within a leading private healthcare provider in Milton Keynes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of core and specialist biochemistry tests, including clinical chemistry, endocrinology, and toxicology.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automated analysers (e.g., Abbott, Roche, or Siemens platforms).

  • Interpret results with accuracy and ensure timely reporting to clinical teams.

  • Support IQC and EQA processes and uphold compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards.

  • Assist with verification and validation of new equipment and methodologies.

  • Participate in audits and contribute to ongoing service improvement and quality initiatives.

Requirements:

  • HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Biochemistry discipline).

  • Proven post-registration experience in a UKAS-accredited Biochemistry laboratory.

  • Familiarity with common LIMS and middleware systems.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to laboratory best practice.

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

  • Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

  • Initial core hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), moving to extended rota after training.

  • Permanent position with scope for career progression.
