Job Title: Independent Prescribing Pharmacist – Band 8a
Location: Hertfordshire – GP Surgery
Duration: 3–4 months
Schedule: Wednesday/Thursday/Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (30-minute lunch)
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Ongoing – potential for extension
Rate of Pay: £33 – £37 per hour (Ltd Company)

What You’ll Be Doing:
Join our GP surgery client’s team as a Prescribing Pharmacist working on-site at a busy GP surgery. In this role, you will:
conduct structured medication reviews for patients with complex needs
manage long-term conditions and optimise therapy in line with current guidelines
provide clinical support and prescribing within your scope of competence
contribute to improving medicines optimisation and reducing polypharmacy risks
work closely with GPs, nurses, and other primary care professionals
utilise EMIS for record-keeping and clinical documentation
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
a current and valid GPhC registration
an Independent Prescribing Qualification
prior experience in a GP surgery or primary care setting
proficiency using EMIS
strong communication and patient consultation skills
the ability to work autonomously on-site (this is not a remote role)
Working Hours & Contract Duration:
This is a part-time locum position requiring availability from Wednesday to Friday, with working hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm (including a 30-minute lunch break). The contract is expected to last 3–4 months, with a strong chance of extension based on service needs.
