Locum Independent Prescriber – GP Surgery (South East London)

Hunter AHP are delighted to be working with a supportive GP surgery in South East London, who are looking for an experienced Independent Prescriber (IP) to join their team on a locum basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated clinician who enjoys flexible working, a friendly practice environment, and the chance to make a real impact on patient care.

 

 

Role Overview

  • Position: Locum Independent Prescriber (IP)

  • Location: GP surgery, South East London

  • Hours: 22.5 hours per week

  • Days: Flexible – choose any 3 days between Monday and Friday

  • Shift times: 8am–4pm or 8am–5pm (candidate’s choice)

  • System: EMIS (experience preferred but training provided if required)

  • Pay: £30–£37 per hour (dependent on experience), paid weekly every Friday

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out face-to-face and telephone consultations with patients

  • Prescribe safely and appropriately within your clinical competency

  • Manage a case load of long-term conditions (for example hypertension, diabetes, asthma, COPD)

  • Assess and treat acute presentations where appropriate

  • Undertake medication reviews and optimise prescribing practice in line with local and national guidelines

  • Work closely with GPs, practice nurses, pharmacists, and the wider multidisciplinary team

  • Ensure all patient interactions are documented accurately on EMIS

  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred primary care

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Registered healthcare professional with Independent Prescribing qualification

  • Previous experience in primary care or GP surgery settings

  • Confident working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • EMIS experience desirable (not essential)

  • Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
