Hunter AHP have an exciting opening for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with expertise in Microbiology to join a leading NHS laboratory in Sussex. This is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced department delivering high-quality infection diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine and specialist testing in bacteriology, virology, and mycology
Use modern microbiology platforms including automated culture and ID/AST systems
Maintain quality standards aligned with ISO 15189 and UKAS accreditation
Accurately report and interpret microbiology results
Participate in laboratory audits and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements:
HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
A minimum of 1 year of UK-based microbiology experience
Proficiency in microbiological techniques including culture and microscopy
Understanding of diagnostic workflows and infection control
Desirable:
Prior experience in NHS settings
Knowledge of middleware and LIMS systems (WinPath, Clinisys)
