Job Title: Biomedical Scientist (Histology) – Band 4/5
Location: Essex
Duration: ASAP – Ongoing (subject to extension)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Rate of Pay: £15 – £20 per hour DOE (umbrella equivalent)

What You’ll Be Doing
Join our Histology team and play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services. Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with or performing tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy
Using staining techniques (manual or automated) and microscopy for sample assessment
Supporting the lab in maintaining compliance with protocols and quality assurance
Working alongside Biomedical Scientists and Pathologists to ensure accurate results
Maintaining high standards of laboratory practice
Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered, you should have:
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist (for Band 5 applicants)
Relevant experience in an NHS Histology setting (Band 4 or 5)
Competence in microtomy and tissue preparation techniques
Strong attention to detail and good communication skills
Full-time availability (we are unable to provide sponsorship)
Working Hours & Contract Duration
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. The contract is ongoing with potential for extension based on performance and service needs.
