Reports to: Service Lead / Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy
The post holder will work as part of an Acute Inpatient Mental Health Services, delivering highly specialised occupational therapy interventions to a designated caseload of twelve service users — six on the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and six on a treatment ward.
The Occupational Therapist will lead on the clinical prioritisation, organisation, delivery, and ongoing development of occupational therapy provision within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring evidence-based, recovery-focused, and person-centred care.
The role also involves providing professional leadership, supervision, and support to occupational therapy staff within the designated clinical area, while contributing to service quality improvement, innovation, and research in line with Trust and national priorities.
Clinical and Professional Practice
Deliver highly specialised occupational therapy assessments and interventions to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.
Utilise the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and other relevant frameworks to assess occupational performance and recovery needs.
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans to promote recovery, engagement, and community reintegration.
Lead the clinical prioritisation and allocation of OT resources across the PICU and treatment ward caseload.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical documentation in line with Trust policies and professional standards.
Actively participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, care reviews, and discharge planning processes.
