Are you an experienced operational leader who thrives in turnaround environments?

We are seeking a confident and hands-on Operational Recovery Lead / Turnaround Manager to drive a structured service recovery programme within an outpatient pharmacy department at an outpatient Pharmacy department, inside an NHS Hospital in the West Midlands.

This is a high-priority interim appointment with senior leadership visibility. The service is experiencing operational pressures and cultural challenges. We need a strong leader who can stabilise operations, galvanise the team, and deliver measurable improvements at pace.

This role does not need to be filled by a pharmacist — however, a strong understanding of hospital pharmacy operations is essential.


The Role

This is a fully hands-on leadership position working alongside the pharmacy team daily. You will:

  • Lead and deliver a structured operational recovery plan

  • Stabilise day-to-day outpatient pharmacy performance

  • Improve workflow, stock management, and operational processes

  • Line manage staff and address performance issues

  • Lead cultural and behavioural change within the team

  • Embed clear expectations, accountability, and team cohesion

  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership


What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong operational experience within NHS hospital pharmacy or clinical services

  • Experience in service recovery, turnaround, or transformation

  • Proven ability to improve workflow and team performance

  • Experience managing staff and handling performance issues

  • Confidence addressing cultural or behavioural challenges

  • Strong communication and influencing skills

  • Understanding of HR processes and workforce management

  • Experience in dispensary optimisation, stock control, or operational improvements

Contract Details

  • 6-month interim contract (with potential extension)

  • Rate DOE £35 – £45 per hour via Umbrella
  • On-site, 5 days per week
