What You’ll Be Doing: Join our team as a Prison Cleared Pharmacist and play a key role in supporting healthcare services within the NHS Prison Service. You’ll work in a dispensary-based environment, delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to prisoners. Your duties will include:
• Dispensing prescribed medications accurately and efficiently to inpatient prisoners
• Providing pharmaceutical advice and ensuring medication safety
• Supporting the prison healthcare team with the delivery of pharmaceutical services
• Assisting with medication stock control, ordering, and inventory management
• Providing clinical advice on the safe use of medications and ensuring compliance with prison healthcare regulations
• Ensuring safe and effective use of medicines by reviewing prescriptions and patient medication histories
• Contributing to multi-disciplinary team discussions, sharing relevant medication-related information
• Maintaining accurate patient records in line with NHS and prison service guidelines
Requirements & Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Current and valid Prison Clearance (essential)
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Experience working in a dispensary setting, preferably within a prison environment or secure setting
• Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality care
• Knowledge of NHS guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Ability to manage high-pressure situations and meet deadlines
Working Hours & Contract Duration: This role offers a standard Monday to Friday schedule, with working hours from 9am to 5pm, and a 30-minute lunch break. The contract is initially for 3-6 months, with a strong possibility of extension based on performance and service needs.
