Locum Paediatric Occupational Therapist (SEND) – Community Role

Location: Mid & North Essex
Hours: 30–37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday – part-time considered)
Contract: Locum, ongoing
Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) with a strong background in SEND and sensory integration to join our friendly and professional community-based team in Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate therapist looking for flexibility and variety within a private, community setting. You’ll be working across schools in the local area, supporting children with a range of gross motor, fine motor, and sensory needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Section F assessments and contributions to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Deliver school-based OT interventions, addressing sensory, fine, and gross motor skill development.

  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and SEN teams, offering practical advice and therapy recommendations.

  • Write clear and professional assessment and therapy reports.

  • Plan and implement individual or group therapy sessions tailored to pupils’ needs.

  • Travel independently between settings within Mid and North Essex.


Requirements

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.

  • Experience in paediatric or SEND settings (education, community, or private).

  • Sensory integration training/experience (SIPT or equivalent desirable).

  • Confident working independently in schools and liaising with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
