Occupational Therapist (Permanent, Part-Time – Autism Specialist, Ages 7–19)

Contract: Permanent
Hours: 3 days per week
Salary: £40,000- £50,000k (pro rata for part-time contract and depending on experience and qualifications, aligned with the level of responsibility and expertise expected of an experienced Occupational Therapist)

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our specialist team in North London, providing support for children and young people aged 7–19 years who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

Working three days per week, you will conduct detailed assessments, design and oversee tailored intervention programmes, and collaborate closely with education colleagues to deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy. Your work will focus on promoting each student’s sensory, motor, emotional, and functional wellbeing, enabling them to engage, learn, and thrive within their environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify strengths, needs, and priorities.
  • Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes to support functional and developmental goals.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and therapy teams to embed strategies within the learning environment.
  • Provide consultation, advice, and training to education staff to support inclusive and effective practice.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary reviews and contribute to written reports and progress documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, professional clinical records and uphold best-practice standards.
  • Engage actively in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (BSc/MSc or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council).
  • Minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working with paediatric and/or neurodivergent children and young people.
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD) in relevant areas (e.g. Autism, Neurodiversity, Sensory Integration, Executive Function Skills).
  • A flexible, compassionate, and collaborative approach to working with young people, families, and colleagues.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within a school or educational environment.
  • Training or familiarity with Autism-specific or therapeutic frameworks, such as:
    • SCERTS
    • Zones of Regulation
    • Sensory Integration
    • Trauma-informed practice
  • Experience delivering training, coaching, or consultation to education or care staff.
