£30 per hour | 3 Days per Week | Hospital | ASAP Start

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Band 6 Trauma & Orthopaedic Physiotherapist to join a busy acute hospital in Central London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Trauma & Orthopaedic physio seeking a part-time locum role with an immediate start.

Pay Rate: £30 per hour
Location: Central London
Contract: Locum
Schedule: 3 days per week

The Role

As a Senior Band 6 Physiotherapist, you will deliver a high-quality Trauma & Orthopaedic service across inpatient wards and the day surgery unit. You will manage a varied caseload of trauma and elective orthopaedic patients, providing advanced assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to optimise recovery and support safe discharge.


Job Summary

  • To provide an advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy service to trauma and elective orthopaedic patients admitted to the inpatient wards and day surgery unit.
  • To work as an autonomous practitioner to formulate a diagnosis and management programme according to assessment findings, and to develop and maintain high standards of patient care.
  • To provide advanced neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessments and treatments for trauma and orthopaedic patients, often with diverse, complex or multiple pathologies and presentations.
  • To provide advanced assessment, treatment & discharge planning pre- and post-operatively, to minimise length of stay and optimise patient rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients following orthopaedic surgery and trauma
  • Deliver early mobilisation and post-operative rehabilitation
  • Independently manage a complex inpatient caseload
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
  • Facilitate safe and timely discharge planning
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing staff, and the wider MDT
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation

Requirements

  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist
  • Previous Band 6 Trauma & Orthopaedic experience
  • Acute hospital experience essential
  • Strong clinical reasoning and discharge planning skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced acute setting
