Job Title: Biomedical Scientist – Microbiology

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (including 1 in 4 Saturdays on a rota basis)

We are excited to present an excellent opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology Department at a renowned private healthcare organisation in the heart of Central London. Conduct routine and specialist diagnostic microbiology tests, including bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and mycology.
Process a wide variety of clinical samples accurately and efficiently.
Operate and maintain a range of microbiological laboratory equipment after competency training.
Participate actively in internal and external quality assurance schemes.
Support stock control, equipment evaluations, and method development initiatives.
Adhere to laboratory policies, procedures, and UKAS accreditation requirements.
Work collaboratively with senior biomedical scientists and multidisciplinary teams.
HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Microbiology discipline).
Demonstrable post-registration experience in a UKAS-accredited Microbiology laboratory.
Strong technical skills in clinical bacteriology, virology, or related disciplines.
Experience using LIMS systems and handling sensitive patient data.
Committed to teamwork, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Initially core hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), moving to a 24/7 rota once competencies are signed off.
Initial contract duration of 3 months, with strong potential for extension depending on performance.
