Position Overview

Job Title: Band 6 Biomedical Scientist – Haematology & Blood Transfusion
Location: Chorley
Duration: Long-term contract
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Full-time hours
Pay Rate: £24–£25 per hour (Umbrella equivalent)

Key Requirements

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist
• Previous NHS experience working in Haematology and Blood Transfusion
• Competent working independently within a busy laboratory environment
• Experience with routine Haematology and Blood Transfusion testing
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality patient care

Duties Include

• Performing routine Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory testing
• Blood grouping, antibody screening and compatibility testing
• Analysing, validating and authorising results in line with laboratory protocols
• Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory analysers
• Participating in quality assurance, quality control and laboratory governance
• Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary laboratory team
