Locum Band 6 ACT Pharmacy Technician – NHS Hospital – Essex – Ongoing Contract

 

Hunter AHP are seeking an experienced Band 6 Pharmacy Technician with ACT accreditation to join an NHS hospital in Essex on a full-time locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technician looking to develop or continue their hospital career in a supportive, patient-facing role within a well-established NHS Trust.

The Role:
The successful candidate will be working as part of the hospital’s clinical pharmacy team, supporting inpatient wards with medicines management and accuracy checking. You’ll be expected to work alongside pharmacists and other technicians, engaging directly with patients and ward staff. Duties will include:

  • Medicines reconciliation on admission and discharge

  • Accurate final checking of prescriptions and dispensed items (as an ACT)

  • Liaising with medical and nursing staff on wards

  • Supporting stock management and supply across wards

  • Providing advice and support to patients regarding their medications

Key Information:

  • Location: NHS Hospital, Essex

  • Position: Band 6 Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Duration: Ongoing long-term locum contract (minimum 3 months, likely to extend)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

  • Rate: £160 – £240 per day (dependent on experience)

  • Payments: Weekly

Requirements:

  • GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician

  • Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification (evidence must be provided)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy hospital setting
