Job Title: Oncology / Haematology Pharmacist – Band 7/8a
Location: Northampton – NHS Hospital
Duration: Ongoing (no end date)
Schedule: 4–5 days per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (45 min lunch)
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Ongoing
Rate of Pay: £28 – £35 per hour (DOE, via Direct Engagement PAYE)

What You’ll Be Doing:

Join an NHS hospital team as an Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist and play a key role in delivering specialist cancer care. In this role, you will:

  • provide clinical pharmacy support across oncology and haematology wards
  • screen and clinically verify chemotherapy prescriptions
  • support safe and effective use of systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT)
  • work closely with MDTs including consultants, nurses, and oncology teams
  • contribute to medicines optimisation and patient safety within the service

Who This Role Is Suitable For:

✔ Experienced Oncology Pharmacists:

  • prior oncology/haematology experience is highly desirable
  • a BOPA passport would be a strong advantage

✔ Hospital Pharmacists Looking to Transition into Oncology:

  • must have prior NHS hospital ward-based clinical experience
  • full training and upskilling provided into oncology/haematology

🚫 Please note: This role is not suitable for pharmacists with community-only experience.


Requirements & Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • GPhC registration as a Pharmacist
  • prior NHS hospital clinical ward experience
  • strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
  • ability to work independently in a clinical environment
  • commitment to delivering high-quality patient care

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

This role offers a flexible working position across 4–5 weekdays per week. The contract is ongoing with a strong likelihood of long-term extension.
